In 2024, Fall Harvest Wildlife Nursery became a certified Michigan Nursery. This idea was born 6 years ago when I attended a presentation from MSU Extension regarding disease resistant fruit trees. What most people don't know is that most commercial varieties being sold need to be sprayed every 7-10 days throughout the entire growing season (stop buying from big box stores!). I want disease resistant trees that flourish in a no-spray environment. There are several commercial varieties of apple, crabapple and pear that are excellent choices for habitat improvements. I also searched for the last 5 years to find wild disease resistant trees throughout MIchigan. My selection of fruit trees will rival anything that is being sold today. The rootstock I am using will produce an 18-20 ft. tree.

The benefit to semi standard and standard trees is that the fruit is up in the air and can't be wiped out by the local whitetail herd like a food plot can be. I have found trees that have drop times throughout the entire hunting season. This is time released food and these trees will have the whitetails in your area conditioned to visit your property. Please remember, food is only 1 component that whitetails require. Your overall success will certainly depend on what kind of overall habitat you have.

The fruit tree varieties that I have put together are awesome. The trademarked varieties are the wild trees that I have searched for and watched over many years. These combinations of trees will attract and hold deer throughout the entire hunting season. Everyone loves crabapples because they produce early and supply large amounts of fruit in a smaller package. Pear trees are the dessert or icing on the cake, deer can't resist.
